CEO Sleep-out - fundraising for homelessness

Ruth Cooke, CEO of Midland Heart joined a number of fellow Birmingham business leaders on a night out at Villa Park, home of Aston Villa FC, on May 14 - with a difference!

The event, organised by national charity ‘CEO Sleepout‘, involves sleeping out in the open at Villa Park and aims to  raise money for local charities and raise awareness of poverty and homeless issues across  Birmingham.

Ruth, was joined by Midland Heart colleagues [pictured above] Sara Beamand, (Director, Care & Support) and Raj Shroff  (Deputy Director, Care & Support)

To date, their efforts have raised over £1675, joining with senior business head’s from across the City to experience rough sleeping, all for good causes. Money raised will go to homelessness and poverty charities in Birmingham - ‘Villa in the Community’, poverty action charity ‘Thrive Together Birmingham ‘and local homelessness organisations.

Commenting on the event, Ruth said: “We’re very proud to support CEO Sleepout Birmingham,  helping to  raise awareness and much needed funds for  homelessness and poverty in Birmingham.  Our fantastic homelessness support teams based at our Digbeth Service Centre in the City, provide   invaluable care and advice to the homeless all year round. In addition, our outreach teams - working with Birmingham City Council - work tirelessly to support rough sleepers who are often referred by  concerned members of the public 24/7, via the Streetlink App.“ Sleep -out2
