It’s time to talk about mental health

Time To Talk Day 2016

Midland Heart supports Time to Change, the national campaign which aims to get as many people as possible across England talking about mental health.

Time to Talk day

On 4 February we are taking part in Time to Talk day by holding events in our offices giving our staff the opportunity to drop in to take part in some short activities and have a chat. At last year’s event, we held over 400 awareness conversations about mental health with colleagues.  On the day many staff told us they were frightened of saying the wrong thing to colleagues/friends/family who may be experiencing mental health issues and some told us they didn’t feel expert enough to help. However, most colleagues said they knew of someone with a mental health issue. They also said they would be less confident talking to their manager about their own mental health, whereas they were more confident talking about their physical health.

By taking part in Time to Talk day we hope to break the silence that often surrounds mental health and show that talking about this once-taboo issue doesn’t need to be difficult.

Supporting our customers

We are committed to improving the quality of life for customers with mental health issues. We work with customers, their families, carers, advocates and other organisations to support our customers to live the life they choose and we do this with dignity and respect.

If you are experiencing mental health problems or need urgent support, there are lots of places you can go to for help. Visit the Time to Change website to find out more.
