How to apply

All applicants will be required to complete:

• Midland Heart live/work application form (download link at the bottom of this page)
• 3-year business plan and cash-flow forecast
• Business accounts for the last 6 months (if applicable)
• Business bank statements for the last 6 months (if applicable)
• Private bank statements for the last 6 months (if you don’t have business bank statements
• A certificate of registered self employment
• Proof of eligibility to remain in the U.K.

Please note that businesses will be reviewed on a regular basis and business owners will be expected to provide information on their accounts, turnover and the relevant information.

If there is more than one applicant applying jointly for an apartment and workshop then a separate application will need to be provided for each business operating within the workshop. Please note that the business will be assessed individually prior to allocation. All tenants will need to live and work within the Spectacle Works. Spouses, partners and family members are eligible to share the living space but will not be entitled to sign up for a mixed user Business Tenancy Agreement or remain in the property if the tenant ceases to do so.

How will my applicant be assessed?

After your application has been received, it will be assessed by a panel involving Midland Heart and partner agency staff against the following:

• Are you eligible to live / work in the UK?
• Is your business eligible for the Spectacle Works scheme?
• Can you afford to sustain your tenancy?
• Are your business & marketing plan and finance forecast robust and realistic? 

You should note that when you apply and regularly throughout the tenancy you will be asked to provide information about your business growth and success. This information will be held within the guidelines of the Midland Heart Data Protection policy and will not be shared with a third party. We have been funded by the government and need to provide regular progress reports to meet our contractual obligations.
