Midland Heart shortlisted for Development of the year award

Saltbrook Place

Our flagship supported housing scheme in Dudley has been shortlisted for Development of the Year at the annual West Midlands Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) awards.

Saltbrook Place in Lye was built on the site of an outdated homeless hostel which had fallen into disrepair and now provides supported housing for vulnerable adults and homeless people in the area.

The £5.7m scheme was developed in partnership with Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, the Homes and Communities Agency and United Living.

Carl Larter, Director of Assets at Midland Heart, said: “We are delighted that Saltbrook Place has been shortlisted for development of the year. Midland Heart is dedicated to transforming lives and communities through housing, care and opportunity. This scheme shows what can be achieved by not only providing much needed accommodation but by offering structured support and high quality facilities for both our customers and the community.”

The CIH annual awards aim to recognise housing excellence in the Midlands with the Development of the year award going to the housing scheme that has met a specific housing need and demonstrates high levels of design, sustainability and build quality. The judges will also consider involvement with the local community to ensure the creation of community facilities or employment opportunities for local people.

The winner of Development of the year award will be announced at the CIH Midlands awards ceremony on 22 October at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.
