Midland Heart staff spread Christmas cheer
A number of Midland Heart schemes have decked the halls to get their residents in the festive spirit this Christmas.
Saltbrook Place, a supported living scheme in Dudley, organised mince pies and gift giving and have even constructed Santa’s grotto in the communal area.
Sabrina Dowling, Team Leader, said: “We like to make sure our residents get a little gift from us at Christmas. We’re giving them a home at Christmas and we realise that for those who don’t have a family, we are their family.”
Our customers at Snowhill were also treated to a festive fayre which saw 81 customers and children attend and get involved in activities such as arts and crafts, quizzes and a Christmas raffle. Many customers were quick to praise the event and say how much they enjoyed themselves.
One customer said: “I just want to say thank you for giving us such a fun day. Since leaving our home, we never thought we’d get to enjoy Christmas again.”
Alongside this, Shoemaker Court, our accommodation in Rushden for families and expectant mothers, had an early visit from Santa Claus! At the beginning of December, the children wrote to Father Christmas which they posted in a magic post box. Little did they know they would each receive a personal reply from Santa, a certificate to prove they had made the nice list, a mini candy cane and signed photographs of Rudolph and Santa!
Night Support Worker, Claire Allen, said “There were 28 hand written letters in total so it was no easy task but it has been so worth it and the magic of Christmas is burning bright at Shoemaker Court!”
Not to be left out, customers at one of our retirement services, Ralph Barlow Gardens, were given a variety show to start their festive season.
The Buccaneers, a Sutton Coldfield based volunteer group who perform free shows to the elderly across the West Midlands, put on an evening of music, magic and comedy to delight the Kingstanding residents. The customers put on a buffet for the evening from their coffee morning funds and got to spend time chatting to the actors after the performance.
We would like to wish all of our customers a merry Christmas and a happy 2018!
