Wellbeing Event Highlights Healthy Living
Customers from across Birmingham were treated to a special wellbeing event to encourage them to take better care of themselves.
The drop-in event, at the city’s Irish centre, attracted more than 85 people from Midland Heart’s Inclusion services and older people’s services.
It was a busy day with lots of activities and information available on health, exercise and nutrition. Customers had the chance to try out Tai Chi or to take part in a variety of health-themed games. The smoothie bike was there plus a caricature artist capturing customer’s likenesses.
Wellbeing nurses were available to do hand-waxing blood pressure and glucose checks and answer questions around improving your health.
External partners including Birmingham City Council’s public health team attended to talk about the services they offer and hand out leaflets.
Healthy eating advice was provided by Midland Heart’s catering team who had plenty of ideas about cooking up nutritious meals on a budget.
Su Moss from the Customer Involvement Team said ‘Customer feedback informed us the day was a real success focussing on how to improve health and wellbeing. It was great to see such a diverse range of customers attending including two families with children.’
