A Generation of Pride - Birmingham Pride 2016

Birmingham city centre was awash with colour over the bank holiday weekend as thousands took part in Birmingham Pride 2016 - the UK’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) celebration event.

For the fifth year running we took part in the vibrant parade which made its way through the city showcasing the diversity of the LGBT community.

Samantha DuNoyer , Night Support Worker at Midland Heart said: “The parade was amazing! People were lining the streets, singing and dancing, waving and cheering. It was great to see so many people from all backgrounds, supporting and accepting each other as equals showing how diverse we all are.”

Jenny Hemmings, HR Business Partner at Midland Heart added: “We are really proud to take part in Birmingham pride again this year. It’s a fantastic celebration event which embraces our inclusive values helping us to build links with the LGBT community to support our customers and staff.”

After the parade the celebrations continued at the Gay Village in Hurst Street with entertainment from DJs and pop stars including Tulisa, Fleur East, Katy B and Liberty X.

The theme for this years event was ‘A Generation of Pride’ celebrating the 20th anniversary of the event which also featured the biggest parade to date.
