Contractors pledge support to Birmingham’s rough sleepers
Contractors in Birmingham have pledged their support for local rough sleepers by purchasing and donating essential personal items.
The aim of the project is to support rough sleepers’ to access accommodation services in Birmingham, and to provide tailored support to help them get back on their feet.
Amanda Nicklin, Homeless Services Manager at Midland Heart said: “Our priority is to support the most vulnerable members of our community.
“The kind donations received from our contractors will go towards helping rough sleepers buy the essential supplies they need to settle into new accommodation, and ultimately, help keep them off the streets.”
To date a total of £1350 has been donated by Ian Williams and CCSS, with CCSS pledging a further £500 a month until Christmas.
Saira Hogg, Account Manager at Ian Williams said: “We are very proud to be partnering with Midland Heart, and are happy to be supporting such a worthwhile and deserving cause.”
CLC Contractors Ltd, have pledged to donate £50 worth of items such as toiletries, socks and sanitary products and are volunteering with the outreach team every month.
Amanda continued: “We will be working with people to tackle the particular problems that lead to them sleeping rough and aiming to connect them with services as needed, from housing to health services to skills and work opportunities.”
Working with a range of partners, Midland Heart is the main provider of outreach services in Birmingham. Contracted by Birmingham City Council, the team are on call in the city and carry out regular patrols from 7am-11pm Monday to Friday.
