Flying the flag for LGBT History Month

Birmingham Pride 2015

Midland Heart is flying the flag for LGBT History Month by raising awareness of local LGBT groups with customers and staff.

LGBT History Month takes place every year during February, aiming to increase the visibility of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (“LGBT”) people, their history, lives and their experiences, as well as highlighting the issues the LGBT community faces.

Throughout February, we are sharing information about LGBT History month on our customer Twitter channel @MidHeartHelp.

We are also holding an event for staff, thanks to support and resources from the Birmingham LGBT Centre. The event will raise awareness and highlight local groups and services which exist both for staff and for customers they come into contact with.

Alistair Greener at Midland Heart said: “We are firmly committed to our LGBT communities and are working hard to develop close links with LGBT customers as well as showing our staff that we are an inclusive employer.”

Midland Heart is also a supporter of Birmingham Pride, the UK’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender celebration event, having had a float at the event for the past four years.

The official LGBT History Month website can be found here, which has more information and resources as well as links to local events which may interest you.
