New Chairman for Midland Heart

John Edwards Chairman

John Edwards, former Chief Executive of regional development agency Advantage West Midlands and current Chairman of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, has officially taken up his post as Chair of the Midland Heart Board of Management.

John is a Principal Fellow at WMG at Warwick University where he chairs the Board of the International Institute for Product and Services Innovation (IIPSI) and is a member of the Project Board overseeing the development of the National Automotive Innovation Campus a partnership between WMG, Jaguar Land Rover and TATA Motors European Technology Centre. 

Ruth Cooke, CEO of housing and care organisation, Midland Heart said: "We are delighted that John Edwards has taken up the position of chair on Midland Heart Board of Management. 

"It's an exciting time to be on the Midland Heart team - bringing a wealth of business and management experience to this crucial position, John will help to drive our ambitions and provide excellent housing and care services and to support even more customers."

John Edwards, who is a quantity surveyor by background, has been appointed a CBE for his services to the regional economy. John received Honorary Doctorates from Warwick, Birmingham, Aston and Wolverhampton Universities and was the 2008 Midlands Property Personality of the Year.  

John said: "I was delighted and privileged to be appointed Chair of the Board of Management earlier this year and I look forward to working with the first class team at Midland Heart."   

John Edwards succeeds Lord Bill Morris who retired in September 2014.  Lord Morris chaired the Board for six years, joining in 2008. 

Ruth continued, "Lord Morris' made an outstanding contribution to Midland Heart during his time with the board; including helping to secure one of the largest allocations of the affordable Housing Programme, the launch of the innovative apprenticeship scheme, Back on Track, the expansion of the care business and creation of the in house maintenance operation.

"We would like to take this opportunity to wish Lord Morris well in all his future endeavours."

Midlands based housing and care provider Midland Heart manage over 32,000 properties across the region, supporting individuals with a wide variety of housing and care needs.
