Executive Leadership Team
We have an Executive Management Board of four led by our Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Harris. They are responsible for running the business and ensuring that it delivers good financial and operational performance to meet the needs of customers, regulators, commissioners and other stakeholders.
Glenn Harris MBE, Chief Executive
Glenn has been Chief Executive of Midland Heart since March 2018 and was previously Finance Director.
Glenn joined Midland Heart following a career spanning seven years at East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA), where he spent five years as Executive Director of Corporate Services, followed by two years as Deputy Chief Executive. Prior to that, he was Deputy Chief Executive at NHS Logistics, supplying over £1bn of consumable goods to all NHS Trusts across England
Glenn received an MBE for services to business in 2012.
Anna Simpson, Executive Director Finance and Information
Anna joined us in 2018 to lead our Finance and Technology and Transformation teams.
Beginning her career with PwC in London after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. She went on to work for them in Amsterdam qualifying as a Corporate Treasurer.
Prior to joining the housing sector, Anna worked in the private sector, mainly for FTSE 100 plc’s, including Aviva, Whitbread and Cadbury Schweppes, in business facing Finance roles.
In 2005 she joined Broadland Housing Association in Norfolk as Group Director of Finance. Promoted to Deputy Group Chief Executive after three years. Anna recently worked for Grand Union Housing Group as Group Director of Finance & Company Secretary.
David Taylor, Executive Director of Operations
David Taylor has worked in housing for 16 years and before joining Midland Heart spent 10 years at Leicester City Council, he played a key role in significantly improving the quality and performance of services to its customers.
David is experienced in leading a wide range of customer focussed services and ensuring customers are at the heart of shaping these. This has included regeneration projects and leading a team responsible for commissioning and contracting housing related services.
Baljinder Kang, Executive Director of HR and Learning
Bal has nearly 25 years of generalist people management experience gained across the private, NHS, charitable and not for profit sectors. When she joined Midland Heart in 2014 she was tasked with transforming the HR function; since then her remit has grown to cover the full breadth of the people agenda including, health & safety and facilities management.
A Fellow of the CIPD and named as one of HR Magazine’s most influential HR practitioners in the not for profit sector for the past three consecutive years, Bal led the team to winning the 2017 CIPD award for best reward initiative. Bal was promoted to the Executive Board of Midland Heart in May 2018.
Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Growth & Corporate Affairs
Joe is responsible for delivering the organisation’s growth strategy, and has recently expanded his portfolio to include housing development, which will see him responsible for the delivery of Midland Heart’s plan to build around 2350 homes for social and affordable rent over five years.
His current role
also includes responsibility for our Finance team.
Prior to joining Midland Heart in July 2013, Joe spent fifteen years with leading management consultancy, PwC working in the Corporate Finance Infrastructure and Government team.
As a Director, Joe acted as a commercial adviser on major economic and social infrastructure PPP projects for local government across the UK with a combined value of £1.5bn. Joe is acknowledged for his work on housing PPP and Housing Revenue Account reform, having co-authored a number of thought leadership publications.
