There will be 250 new homes for Santa to visit

Midland Heart 12 Days Of Christmas 1

Father Christmas had to steer his sleigh pulled by Rudolph and his trusty team of reindeer to around 250 new Midland Heart homes last night.

And today, hundreds of tenants, their partners and children have woken up to their first Christmas Day in one of our brand new homes.

The keys to homes ranging from four bedroom houses to one bedroom flats have been handed over across the Midlands region. Some customers will have been living in their new property for almost 12 months but others will have had just a few weeks to settle in and find the box of baubles and tinsel.

Developments – including Mons Hills at Wrens Nest, Dudley – were completed in 2018, while others such as Ashton Green in Leicester saw their first homes finished and customers moving in.

Our prestigious £58 million development trio in Leicester – Wolsey Island, St Mary’s and Green Lane Road – welcomed new tenants in 2018 as did the £8.2 million Martineau Road at Shard End, Birmingham, which recently impressed Shadow Housing Minister Melanie Onn MP. All these developments are on track to complete in 2019.

We also handed over the keys to tenants moving into homes released at Blaby, Hugglescote and Syston in Leicestershire, Lockhurst Lane and City Road in Coventry, Lichfield House at Stafford and Tansey Green Road, Kingswinford, Dudley.

Chris Miller, Director of Development, said: “Midland Heart has had another busy year building quality new homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and other tenures.

“My team works really hard throughout the many stages of a new housing development and works closely in partnership with each of the developers, the relevant council planning departments and the many other agencies that help us bring a development to fruition. It can take several years from a piece of land being sourced and acquired to completion of the properties.

“With every project there are invariably challenges to overcome and any delay in the process is immensely frustrating but the end result - handing over the keys to a brand new home to a customer – and helping to meet the demand for affordable homes makes the effort worthwhile.”
