Providing our customers with an extra ‘Safetynet’

We are proud to have joined forces with Safetynet Security Group to provide a quality and reliable security service within the local community.

Our mobile security and caretaker contract that we recently re-procured, was awarded to Safetynet Security Group and went live in July 2017.

This out of hours patrol service covers our general needs schemes in Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton and approximately 17,000 properties. This change applies to those general needs customers, who pay us a service charge for this service.

Vicki Brownhill, Operations Manager said: “This partnership makes a valuable contribution to community safety reporting, enforcing and educating customers, to ensure our properties and schemes are places people want to live now and in the future.

“The patrols enable us to identify security and health and safety risks and address these where appropriate, or call other agencies such as the police. The service also supports our anti-social behaviour case management approach by responding to out of hour’s reports of disruptive behaviour, such as: noise nuisance, illegal activity and unauthorised visitors to communal areas.

“We are very pleased to be working with Safetynet to deliver this service for our customers.”

Within the first month of the contract going live, 555 routine patrols have been carried out with 61 incident reports being generated from these visits. 48 referrals had been made by officers to the service of which a further 158 visits had taken place to support us in the investigation and resolution of tenancy and estate management issues.

Martyn Green, Safetynet Business Development Manager said: “Safetynet are a long-standing security provider who operate on both the national and local security platforms. Based in the heart of Birmingham, Safetynet have established a cohesive vision to strive for the very best possible care and safeguarding of the most vulnerable members of our community.

“Having an extended family relationship with the police and other security providers and services are just part of the working ethos of Safetynet Security. We aim to bring the same vision and approach to our work with Midland Heart; this partnership is an exciting opportunity for all involved to nurture our local community and continue to strive for excellence.
