Fire safety at the top of the agenda

Our priority is to keep you safe and we want to reassure you that we take fire safety very seriously. So, what are we doing to ensure the safety of you and your family?

Like all housing associations, we are required to carry out fire risk assessments on our buildings and we have put in a lot of hard work to make sure we have expert staff who can carry out these assessments.

In 2016 we decided to put together a dedicated team that specialises in fire risk assessments. All members of the team are fully trained and come from fire safety backgrounds – some team members previously worked for local fire services. We also provide training to other staff such as scheme managers, rangers and caretakers so that the responsibility is on us all.

Whilst we have the right people and processes in place, we know that things change quickly so it is vital that we keep up to date with best practice and learning to understand what ‘good’ looks like.

As part of this, we are pleased to be in the process of signing up to a Primary Authority Scheme with West Midlands Fire Service. This partnership will mean that we can get expert and tailored advice on the latest fire safety regulations, giving you confidence that we are putting your safety first.

For us, fire safety has and will continue to remain at the top of the agenda.
