Flexibility is key to help Julia Bailey manage a busy work life with a hectic home schedule.
Julia, HR Shared Services Manager, manages a team who deal with HR queries from colleagues across Midland Heart. If she didn’t have enough on a plate, Julia is also mother to three young children.
She said: “Our team is responsible for on-boarding new starters, processing payroll, as well as training administration and dealing with all general queries. It’s a really busy role and the team deal with a high volume of requests every single day."
I have a twelve, seven and one year old. I work four days and pick the kids up from school twice a week. “It’s the right balance for me, my team and Midland Heart. Being able to pick the kids up, cook dinner and do homework keeps things balanced at home, and I really look forward to the day I can spend with my youngest.
Julia added: “I’m set up to work from anywhere so I’m never too far away if I have an assembly or school play. My manager supports me in working from home or other locations that makes life that little bit easier.
So what is Julia’s secret for balancing things so that her work and home life get a fair share of her time? “You have to be organised and you get into a routine. The fact that I work part time means I get a great balance that works for me and my family. I really appreciate doing a role I enjoy, without missing out on the gymnastics groups, boxing classes or other important milestones in my children’s lives”
