Lime Gardens says cheers to Marston's!
Volunteer helpers from Marston’s PLC made an heroic effort to ensure one of our retirement villages is in tip top condition for the winter months.
The 19-strong team rolled up their sleeves and tackled a long list of odd jobs at Lime Gardens, Halesowen as part of their Heroes of the Community initiative.
The team took on a range of tasks including prepping the communal garden, potting shed, greenhouse and front of building for winter, re-organising the craft room, bar and shop and blitzing the residents’ lounge.
Sallyann Tennant, Activities Co-ordinator at the Benjamin Drive village, said: “It was hard work but the Marston’s team did an amazing job. They were enthusiastic and willing to do whatever was needed and worked really well with our own resident volunteers and other residents. This made for a great positive atmosphere, enjoyed by all at Lime Gardens.”
Jenny Nalborczyk from Marston’s PLC, said: “The team had a great day at Lime Gardens completing a wide range of tasks. It was lovely to meet the residents and get involved in duties which were very different from our day jobs at the brewery! We hope to stay in touch and support them again in the future.”
The Heroes of the Community initiative was launched by Wolverhampton-based Marston’s several years ago and includes a wide range of activities from making Christmas hampers for vulnerable members of the community, charity car washes, donating to food banks and outdoor projects to improve the local area.
As well as an annual volunteering day in the autumn, the project runs for a week in May, and throughout December both in the community and in Marston’s pubs and head office.
