Midland Heart teams up with Birmingham hospice
Midland Heart have chosen independent charity Birmingham St Mary’s hospice as their new charity partner for 2017-18.
Staff at Midland Heart voted to support the local charity in a year long partnership which will see staff raise much needed funds to support the hospice.
Birmingham St Mary's Hospice is an independent charity providing hospice care to people across Birmingham and Sandwell.
Bal Kang, Director of HR at Midland Heart said: “We are delighted to be working with Birmingham St Mary’s hospice as our chosen charity partner. Our staff took part in some of their fundraising events last year. Now they are our chosen charity of the year we hope to build on last year’s fundraising success and support such a vital service.”
The hospice supports over 1,200 terminally ill people a year, with the majority of support taking place in patients' own homes. Their support extends to carers and family members, including ongoing bereavement support for as long as families require it.
Charlotte Anson, corporate partnerships manager at Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, said: “We’re thrilled that staff have chosen Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice to be Midland Heart’s ‘Charity of the Year’. There are definitely synergies between our two organisations, which are all about supporting people to have the best experience of living.
“Staff have already shown us a lot of enthusiasm and we’re looking forward to working closely together to raise vital funds for local families living with terminal illness.”
To really help boost fundraising efforts for the charity, Midland Heart will match the total amount of colleague fundraising by up to £5000! Within this £5000, Midland Heart is donating £1 for every Employee Engagement Survey completed - so staff can help raise funds for charity just by filling out a short survey.
