Showing our support for Army Reserves
Wednesday 21st June marks the annual Reserves Day where Army Reservists raise awareness of their roles by wearing their uniform in their civilian life.
Reservists give up their spare time to serve in the Reserve Forces, balancing their civilian life with a military career to ensure that should their country require them, they would be ready to serve as part of the military.
At Midland Heart we offer support to any of our staff who want to join the Reserve Forces, which includes providing 10 days’ unpaid leave to fulfil reserve duties.
In January we signed up to the Armed Forces covenant which recognises organisations across the UK that are armed forces-friendly, and actively work with former Service personnel, their families and members of the Reserve Forces.
This weekend is also Armed Forces Day, the annual national campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, including currently serving troops, Service families, Reservists, veterans and cadets.
The UK Armed Forces defend the country and its interests. Every day of the year they are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers and providing security and fighting terrorism.
This year, Armed Forces Day is held on Saturday 24 June 2017.
Further information on Armed Forces Day, including a full list of events, can be found on their website.
