Bumper Bank Holiday ahead for a dozen customers
It’s going to be a bumper Bank Holiday for another crop of our tenants, due to collect the keys of their brand new homes at St Mary’s allotments, Leicester on August 27.
Our £18.2m development of family homes and flats at Aylestone is nearing completion with a further dozen handed over next week and nine more in September.
The first properties were finished 12 months ago and Leicester City Council picked potato varieties for the street names - Pentland Close and Maris Way - in homage to the land’s former use as allotments.
St Mary’s is among our ambitious trio of developments in Leicester with home-builder Countryside. Together, the sites are providing almost 400 quality homes with more than half for affordable rent or shared ownership. Our other developments at Wolsey Island and Green Lane Road are also close to completion.
Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Strategy and Growth, said: "The developments represent an investment of £58m to build 395 much-needed homes in Leicester and regenerate disused land.
“The St Mary’s allotment development is interesting as properties are being finished to a higher environmental standard and the road names pay tribute to the land’s horticultural heritage.”
