We make our own brilliant news - twice-over!

We are on the shortlist for not one, but two, prestigious accolades in the CIPR PRide Awards, which recognise leaders in the public relations industry.

We're the sole housing association among more than 90 organisations, companies and individuals shortlisted and are up for both the Outstanding In-house PR Team and the Internal Communications Campaign awards.

Our in-house PR team has worked hard over the past three years to communicate major internal and external changes and unite our   1,600 members of staff behind our vision for the future.

The team was also challenged to win support from our staff for a new corporate plan, launched in April 2019. The campaign included talking to 1,000 tenants and hundreds of staff to understand what really matters and ensure those priorities were a key part of all our work – from helping customers to building brand new homes.

CEO Glenn Harris later described the campaign as “the most positive and well-organised” corporate plan launch he had been involved in personally.

Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Strategy & Growth, said: “It’s brilliant to be shortlisted for not one, but two, major awards in the public relations industry and I am delighted the team’s commitment, creativity and hard work has been recognised publicly.

“Our in-house communications team had a significant challenge on their hands to deliver our previous corporate plan, which had to reflect a change in the housing sector including a one per cent rent reduction and numerous welfare reforms – requiring cost savings of £42m.

“The team was pivotal in supporting the change programme and with minimal budget played a large part in helping us achieve our objectives a year ahead of schedule.

“In addition, the campaign around launching our new corporate plan in 2019 has instilled confidence among our teams about our future direction and made everyone feel part of the journey and empowered to deliver change.”

The PRide awards are the UK’s leading regional PR awards and recognise outstanding work delivered by public relations teams, companies and individuals. Achieving an award marks out winners as an industry leader in their area.

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) will announce the 2019 Midlands regional award winners in Birmingham on Friday, September 27.
