Midland Heart colleagues fund 12 lifesaving missions

Our colleagues have hiked, abseiled, baked and auctioned their way to a more than £9,000 donation for our 2019/20 corporate charity, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC).

This will fund three helicopter rescue operations and nine critical care car missions for MAAC, which relies entirely on donations to run its lifesaving service across the Midlands.

Key fundraising efforts included a daring abseil down the side of Birmingham’s iconic Wesleyan building, a gruelling team effort in the Wolf Run and an intrepid hike to the top of Britain’s tallest mountains in the Three Peaks Challenge.

For the less adrenaline-charged, there were also bake sales, raffles and fun days, while Midland Heart match-funded the money raised to achieve the grand total of £9,272.82.

The MAAC critical care carIn a thank you message to colleagues, Chief Executive Glenn Harris said: “For all those colleagues who raised funds, thank you so much – it does mean a lot.

“Midlands Air Ambulance is a great charity to work with and we wish them all the very best in the future.”

This year’s corporate charity – nominated and voted for by colleagues – is Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Find out more about their work here.
