The need for more ambitious planning reform
Last week, we responded to a review of national planning policy known as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), calling for Government to be more ambitious in their reforms.
With approximately 33,000 homes across the Midlands region, we have asked that the new policy support our ambition to tackle the shortage of quality affordable homes.
We have put together an overview of the planning reforms for you to explore the proposals and our ask to Government in more detail.
Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Growth and Corporate Affairs who is responsible for Midland Heart’s new housing developments, said: “We support the government in its drive to speed up the planning system and unlock more homes, however, we have questioned whether the reforms should make more provision for affordable housing."
The Government is expected to publish its final recommendations in July 2018.
