James Estate Officer For Mercia Gardens

I’m your local estates officer and I'm part of our Estates Team here at Midland Heart and we're responsible for ensuring your community is safe, clean and well maintained.

Our focus is on building safety, to reduce fire risk, and to manage environmental contracts such as grounds maintenance, communal and window cleaning and ensuring the communal washing area is well maintained.

We also each manage a specific geographical area which we refer to as our ‘patch’. We complete regular inspections across our schemes and engage with partner agencies such as local councils and community groups to resolve any issues that are having an impact in your area.

We also work closely with our Estate Champions and involve customers to ensure our communal areas are safe and well maintained. If you're interested in becoming an Estate Champion, please let us know.

Examples of cases we will deal with are:

  • Fly tipping
  • Pests & Vermin
  • Communal areas
  • Property fires or floods
  • Abandoned vehicles or properties
  • Grounds Maintenance enquiries
  • Contract Management
  • Boundary issues

Antisocial behaviour

Here's a video, all about antisocial behaviour and how to report it to us. We're committed to doing our utmost to resolve ASB issues, so make sure you let us know so we can help.

You can report an ASB issue to us by filling out this form or calling us on 0345 602 0540. We’ll provide advice and support before getting involved because this can often resolve things more quickly.

If that doesn’t work, then we’ll take further action, which can include:

  • Helping you to come to an agreement through Restorative Justice
  • Looking at resolving the problem by talking to your neighbours
  • Issuing warnings to the people involved
  • Asking neighbours to sign a Good Neighbour Agreement or Acceptable Behaviour Contract
  • Seeking legal action against the person responsible for the ASB

To find out more about our approach to managing ASB, take a look at our ASB policy.

If you see someone committing a crime, please contact the police.
