Celebrating love: Albert and Margaret’s diamond anniversary
Retirement Living Our Tenants 14/08/2026
A lifetime of memories
Our retirement living tenants Albert and Margaret Messer recently celebrated something extra special this year – their diamond wedding anniversary.
The couple, who married in on July 16 1966, have shared 60 years of memories together, building a family that now includes two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
How they met
Reminiscing about how they met, Albert said he met Margaret ‘in the dark’ at Farley Park (West Bromwich), after being introduced through mutual friends. Albert knew that very moment that Margaret was the one – and Margaret felt the same.
Enjoying life together
Since moving into one of our homes in 2013, Albert and Margaret told us they've have found somewhere they feel happy and settled.
Margaret loves to read and enjoys going out on day trips. Albert enjoys writing poems and quotes and has recently had his own book published – something he jokingly told us took him 59 years to complete!
A special message
When asked what the secret to a successful marriage was, Albert explained it beautifully with one of his favourite quotes: ‘The bond of love is glue.’
We wish Albert and Margaret a very happy diamond wedding anniversary and thank them for sharing their wonderful story and photos with us – which included a congratulations card from the King and Queen!
