Your safety is our priority

There are two different types of safety we look after 'building safety' and 'tenant safety'. Understanding the difference will help you to get in touch with the right team so that we can support you and resolve any concerns you have.

What is the difference between building and tenant safety?

Protecting Your Home From A Fire

This is sometimes called landlord compliance and is about the safety of the building itself and the checks we must do by law, such as:

  • Gas safety checks
  • Fire safety measures and fire doors
  • Electrical safety checks
  • Lifts, emergency lighting and other safety systems
  • Making sure the structure of the building is safe

These areas are mainly handled by our Building Safety Team, however our Rangers and Estates Teams also carry out fire safety checks within our blocks.

Cleaning up an alleyway

This is sometimes referred to as community or neighbourhood safety and relate to behaviour and estate issues such as:

  • Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
  • Crime and nuisance
  • Fly-tipping and rubbish
  • Vandalism
  • Problems in communal areas caused by behaviour

These concerns are handled by our Estates and Tenancy Services Teams. We also work in partnership with the police, local councils and other agencies.
