Today marks the beginning of ASB Awareness Week and we’re collaborating with community safety experts, Resolve, to raise awareness and make sure you understand your rights when it comes to antisocial behaviour (ASB).
The law describes ASB as 'behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person'. It can include abusive, threatening or intimidating behaviour, drug dealing and drug use, constant, loud shouting and music, persistent dog barking, and pets damaging property.
It’s a national campaign that takes place every year to raise awareness about antisocial behaviour and how to make our communities a safer place to live.
Experiencing antisocial behaviour can be very upsetting and can affect how safe you feel in your own home.
This year’s theme focuses on ‘Making Communities Safer’ and is led by the Four Asks:
- Guaranteed support for victims – because nobody should suffer alone.
- Reducing delays in the justice system – because this can harm confidence in the system.
- Better information sharing – through a single, national information sharing agreement that allows ASB information to be shared easily between relevant organisations.
- Making it easier to report ASB – so that problems are spotted and dealt with sooner.
Keeping you at heart: our five-year corporate plan
Making sure we’re keeping you at heart, tackling ASB is an important part of our new corporate plan. We’re working to improve our tenants and homeowners’ lives every day, and one way we’re doing this over the next year is by reinvesting £0.1 million of your rent into our CCTV and antisocial behaviour case management efforts to keep you safe.
Over the next five years, we’ll work to deliver quality landlord services that meet your needs and make a positive impact on your daily lives and local neighbourhoods.
Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSM) report feedback
In our recent TSM report, 65.5% of you were satisfied with how we handled ASB issues and 68.1% of you were satisfied with our positive contribution to neighbourhoods.
We want to make sure even more of our tenants and homeowners feel this way, so we’re investing in a CCTV system upgrade, have a dedicated ASB case management team in place to support tenants, and will be rolling out local and relevant communications based on where you live so you can stay informed and safe.
