It's Safeguarding Adults Week (17-21 November), a national campaign to raise awareness about important safeguarding issues.
What is Safeguarding Adults Week?
It’s a national initiative that’s coordinated by the charity, the Ann Craft Trust. This year’s theme is ‘prevention’, with each day of the week exploring these sub-themes:
- Monday - Change the conversation
- Tuesday - Prevention in practice
- Wednesday - Creating empowering environments
- Thursday - Trust your instincts
- Friday - Celebrate the safer cultures
How we’re safeguarding adults
Making sure you feel safe and supported in your home is our priority, which is underpinned by safeguarding.
In most cases, our Housing Advice Team can help if you’re experiencing antisocial behaviour or safeguarding-related issues. Learn more about the team here.
Our Tenancy Services Officers (TSOs) also work collaboratively with our partners to help safeguard our tenants in many ways. This includes:
- Domestic abuse cases - our TSOs work with our dedicated Domestic Abuse Coordinator to help tenants who are experiencing domestic abuse, which includes signposting them to support services.
- Hoarded and cluttered properties - they also help tenants to clear their homes and stay living where they are.
- Children at risk of harm, abuse and neglect - our TSOs are alerted to cases where children are at risk. In these cases, they’ll work with agencies, such as social services, to get the right support in place.
- Adults at risk of harm due to county lines - our TSOs work with the police and social services on cases involving vulnerable adults, who are the victim of cuckooing.
Our safeguarding partners
We work closely with a wide range of partners, including:
- Social services
- Police
- Mental health crisis teams
- Community safety teams
- Women’s Aid
- Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) leads
- Domestic abuse support services (see our domestic abuse service directory)
Our vision for the future
Making sure you feel safe in your homes and communities is extremely important to us. Our Tenancy Services team works closely with tenants every day, referring them to the relevant agencies and making sure they’re fully supported.
Looking ahead, we’ll continue to help safeguard you by working with our partners to address safeguarding concerns and reduce risks. To learn more about our commitment to keeping you safe, take a look at our Safeguarding Policy.
