Our Tenant Scrutiny team are here to listen to your feedback and make sure your voices are heard by everyone else. We wanted to introduce one of our newest members of the team, Matti…
Why did you join the Tenant Scrutiny team?
I wondered what it meant to be a Tenant Engagement and Scrutiny Officer.
Is it just about audits that lead to policy reviews or about service scrutinies? This is all very important to my role, but what I’ve found is a lot more insightful. It’s about making sure our tenant’s lived experiences don’t just inform the work that we do as an organisation, but that their insights drive, direct and deliver solutions, and for them too.
How’s your experience been?
My journey so far has been very interesting, my manager and my team have made sure that my first 12 weeks have been engaging and full of learning. Over the last few weeks, I have:
- Taken part in door knocking events to drive Involved Tenant recruitment
- Supported the Planned Maintenance team in keeping tenants informed about the work at Croft Pool
- Supported our Involved Tenant Sue, to share her story about the importance of social housing directly to The Mayor of West Midlands, Richard Parker
- Led the Complaints Learning Group to understand feedback around our processes
- Supported Stairpay in hosting a live demonstration for our shared owners
What have you learnt so far?
As a Scrutiny officer, our role is about being an advocate for our tenants where decisions are being made about them, their tenancies and ultimately, their homes.
But alongside this, I’ve recognised that the heart of this role is all about collaboration. I’ve had support from across the business from the Repairs team, the Hub, Tenancy Services, Home Ownership and more.
We’re all working together with a shared goal to deliver our promise of tenants at heart of everything we do.
