Bushfield Court Story

We’re delighted to announce that Bushfield Court in Bilston has been awarded the ‘Outstanding’ category in the ‘Britain in Bloom’ competition.

The team at Bushfield entered the competition back in July 2021 in a category called ‘In Your Neighbourhood’, with two main themes of showing thanks and kindness and encouraging wildlife.

As part of the category, they paid tribute to key workers, local organisations, and schools who have supported them through the pandemic.

A scarecrow trail was included in the design of the community gardens and residents in the 82 bungalows and flats also ensured flowers were blooming on their patios and balconies.

“This was a well-deserved award” said Marie Barley, Lifestyle Coach at the Retirement Living scheme.

“Bushfield Court thrived in very difficult circumstances over the last 12 months to produce a wonderful space for everyone to enjoy.

“This was not just down  to the garden group but everyone who lives here, their friends and family,  our wonderful volunteers, the Advance care team and day centre staff, local businesses such as Morrisons, and our scheme manager, Sarah.”

It was also great to receive these comments from the judges;

“Bushfield Court are working hand in glove, so beautifully with their local Morrisons supermarket to deliver their gardens. The tenants own gardens are a credit to those that can do their bit and it’s nice to see their greenhouse put to so much good use  - not only in the Spring, to bring on young plants but also throughout the year.

“The hanging baskets that adorn the front of the building – even though been done by amateurs – would make any professional proud.”

Well done to everyone involved!
