Midland Heart hits the roof
Midland Heart has hit the roof with its latest all-affordable housing development in the East Midlands.
Properties are shaping up, with a number already having roofs on at the £8.7m development on Station Road, Bagworth in Leicestershire.
The 61-home development is another joint venture between leading housing association Midland Heart and the developer Partner, part of the Fastflow Group. The partnership is also delivering affordable homes in Nuneaton and has proposals for a site near Burton-on-Trent.
Glenn Harris, Chief Executive of Midland Heart, pictured below right, said: “This is an interesting development for Midland Heart as it is exclusively for the provision of quality homes at affordable rent. We are building more than 60 homes, including one-bedroom flats and family-sized houses, which will help to meet demand for genuinely affordable housing in the area.”
On a recent visit to view progress at the site, he said he was impressed at how the development, built on the site of a former Dunlop factory, had revitalised derelict industrial land and would ultimately improve the environment for the local community.
Neil Armstrong, Chairman of Fastflow Group, pictured centre, was also on the progress tour.
He said: “Although repairing and maintaining homes is something we have been doing for a number of years, the addition of Partner to our group earlier this year, means we can now also build new homes too.
“As Midland Heart is a new client I wanted to visit one of our developments, see progress and meet our new colleagues who are delivering these much-needed homes for affordable rent.”
Joe Reeves, Executive Director of Growth & Corporate Affairs, Midland Heart, is pictured left explaining progress so far at Bagworth.
Tenants will start moving into their new homes on the 3.7acre site from November, with the development due for completion summer 2019.
An additional £900,000 scheme for a further six affordable rent homes, on adjoining land, has been submitted for planning permission.
