We net planning permission for 100 new affordable homes
We have been given the go-ahead for two more all-affordable housing developments with specialist home-builder Countryside.
The developments boost our joint pledge to build 1,000 new homes across the region over the next three years by more than 100 properties.
Birmingham City Council granted planning approval for a 47-home development at King’s Heath on October 10, while Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council approved our plans for 59 homes at Meadowcroft Farm on the A5 on October 1.
Chris Miller, Director of Development, said: “These two developments are the latest to join our growing portfolio with Countryside with whom we have an agreement to build 1,000 new homes by the end of 2022.
“The King’s Heath site is 100 per cent affordable housing, providing family houses and maisonettes in a purpose-built cul-de-sac off Kings Road and close to all the amenities of Kings Heath and also Birmingham city centre.
“Meadowcroft Farm on Watling Street, will deliver 49 family homes and 10 flats of one or two bedrooms for affordable rent or shared ownership.
“The site was previously the A5 Aquatic Centre and is an excellent location for housing, being close to existing local schools, both Nuneaton and Hinckley town centres and good road and rail links.”
Work to prepare the sites is expected to get underway soon. The first homes will be ready for occupation on both sites around autumn 2020.
