Jess - estates officer

I’m your local estates officer and I'm part of our Estates Team here at Midland Heart and we're responsible for ensuring your community is safe, clean and well maintained.

Our focus is on building safety, to reduce fire risk, and to manage environmental contracts such as gardening.

We also each manage a specific geographical area which we refer to as our ‘patch’. We complete regular inspections across our schemes and engage with partner agencies such as local councils and community groups to resolve any issues that are having an impact in your area.

We also work closely with our Estate Champions and involved customers to ensure our communal areas are safe and well maintained. If you're interested in becoming an Estate Champion, please let us know.

Examples of cases we will deal with are:

  • Fly tipping
  • Pests & Vermin
  • Communal areas
  • Property fires or floods
  • Abandoned vehicles or properties
  • Grounds Maintenance enquiries
  • Contract Management
  • Boundary issues

Looking after your estate

Occasionally, you may see problems at Cash's Lane or Kirby Close, this is how you can make a difference:

Fly-tipping

You can let us know about fly-tipping by calling our Hub on 0345 60 20 540 or dropping us a private message on Facebook or Twitter. This way we can report incidents to the police and help clear up dumped waste on our premises.

To contact the council directly, please click here.

Bins overflowing

If you see a public litter bin overflowing, you can contact the council and ask them to empty it by clicking on the button below.

Empty a bin

Bin not collected

If your bins have not been collected, click the button below to let the council know and to arrange a recollection:

Sometimes the lorries are not able to access the bins, so please make sure:

  • You don’t leave bin bags outside of the main containers
  • You don’t park in front of the bins
Dog fouling

Make sure you always pick up after your dog, especially on communal grass. If left, your grass may not be cut until a ranger is able to visit and remove the waste. This takes your ranger away from other more important estate jobs.

Anti-social behaviour

Here's a video, all about anti-social behaviour and how to report it to us. We're committed to doing our utmost to resolve ASB issues, so make sure you let us know so we can help.

You can report an ASB issue to us by filling out this form or calling us on 0345 602 0540. We’ll provide advice and support before getting involved because this can often resolve things more quickly.

If that doesn’t work, then we’ll take further action, which can include:

  • Helping you to come to an agreement through Restorative Justice
  • Looking at resolving the problem by talking to your neighbours
  • Issuing warnings to the people involved
  • Asking neighbours to sign a Good Neighbour Agreement or Acceptable Behaviour Contract
  • Seeking legal action against the person responsible for the ASB

To find out more about our approach to managing ASB, take a look at our ASB policy.

If you see someone committing a crime, please contact the police.
